Initial Testing and Analysis
We begin by conducting a quantitative electroencephalogram (q-EEG) and an electrocardiogram (EKG). These tests measure brain wave frequencies, heart rate, and brain-heart coherence.
After the initial analysis, our clinical and scientific teams will review the data to determine your current brain activity. As part of this, they will identify areas of the brain that may not be performing in tandem with the rest of your brain.
We then incorporate a patented approach with the neurophysiological data to develop a customized treatment plan that “guides” your treatment through its therapy process.

What is an EEG?
The qEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalogram) is sometimes referred to as “brain mapping.” We use this tool along with an EKG (electrocardiogram) to determine the electrical activity in multiple areas of the brain. By doing this we can identify areas that may be too active, or not active enough.
Acknowledging each brain is different, this precise tool allows us to identify brain areas with electrical dysfunction related to either traumatic injury or neurodegenerative process. This, then, provides evidence of electrical abnormalities and network dysfunctions.
Because every EEG is completely unique to each person, this allows us to tailor our treatment approach specifically for you to ensure the best possible results.
Brain activity varies greatly from individual to individual. Those with non-optimum neurological conditions may have significant EEG rhythm variations which may result in excessive or reduced brain metabolism.
Is MeRT Treatment Right for You?
While MeRT therapy has been around for many years, you may just be hearing about it. And you may be considering it for yourself or your child. We understand that this may seem like a complicated process, so we are here to help you through it.
Your first step would be a no-obligation phone consultation with our New Patient Coordinator. During this consultation, you can discuss your symptoms and history. You can also ask questions and have her explain the protocols, fees, and details of treatment.
When you are ready for the next step, we will set up an appointment for your qEEG. Through this test, we can see EXACTLY what is going on in YOUR brain and individualize treatment for you. Once we complete your qEEG, our team of experienced doctors and scientists will analyze your results. If they determine you may benefit from treatment, they will develop an exact treatment protocol designed to optimize your brain (or that of your child).
The next step in this easy process will be to have a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Sosnowski. This appointment can be done virtually from the comfort of your own home. Here you will discuss your symptoms, treatment protocols, and get answers to any additional questions that you may have. Together, you will determine if you or your child are a candidate for treatment.
If you and your clinician then decide to move forward with the next step, we will perform a short assessment period of treatment. This will be followed by a new EEG to see if you are responding, as well as noting symptom improvements.
Insurance Coverage
While MeRT treatment isn’t generally covered by insurance, we are happy to provide you with the appropriate paperwork at the end of your treatment. You can then submit the paperwork to your insurance company to see if they will provide you with any reimbursement.
Currently, rTMS is FDA cleared for Depression and OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). Therefore, in some cases, we may be able to help you with your insurance company if you are seeking treatment for those issues. Additionally, some patients have reported that they have received some reimbursement for EEGs or clinical evaluations and treatment when treating Major Depressive Disorder, depending on their health coverage. However, Medicare patients have reported that their coverage provides no reimbursement for MeRT. And for non-FDA cleared treatment, it is unlikely that your insurance company will provide you with any reimbursement for MeRT.
We take all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
Care Credit is also an option to assist in financing medical expenses. This is a separate company from MVP Medical Care and is a credit card you can use to cover medical costs and services. Often, when you go to the Care Credit website and apply, they will let you know if you are approved very promptly.
INTERESTED BUT NOT SURE?
Talk with our New Patient Coordinator
Since MeRT is a relatively new treatment, we understand that you may not be sure if this is right for you. And that’s completely okay. After all, you need to get all the information necessary to make the right decision for your health.
To get that information, your first step is a simple, no-obligation phone consultation with our New Patient Coordinator. During this consultation, you can discuss your symptoms and history, ask all the questions you want, and have her explain the protocols, fees, and treatment details.
Our goal is simply this: To help guide you through the healing process, so you achieve all the remarkable results MeRT has to offer. In fact, many clinicians and technicians employed by various clinics that offer MeRT have gone through treatment protocols themselves. They know first-hand what the treatment can do, and as a result, want you to heal as they have.
